Binding the Shadows by Jenn Bennett Review

four-stars

Demons sure know how to kill a girl’s buzz. Renegade mage and bartender Arcadia Bell has had a rough year, but now the door to her already unstable world is becoming completely unhinged. When a citywide crime wave erupts, Cady’s demon-friendly tiki bar is robbed by Earthbounds wielding surreal demonic abilities that just flat-out shouldn’t exist. With the help of her devilishly delicious boyfriend, Lon Butler, Cady sets out to find the people who wronged her—but her targets aren’t the only ones experiencing unnatural metamorphoses. Can Cady track down the monsters responsible before the monster inside her destroys everything—and everyone—she loves? If she survives this adventure, one thing is certain: it’s last call for life as she knows it.

This book in the best words I can think of was incredible. I loved being back in the amazing world the author created and back with the characters I have grown attached to. I love the way these characters have made me want to be invested in them and hope things work out well for them. We get back into this book by finding Cady and Lon trying to have a somewhat normal life but of course events occur that prevent that. This time the pair have to work together to figure out what is causing the Earthbounds to go on crime sprees and where they are getting the new powers from that are popping up. I loved that this book we got to see Cady and Lon become even closer and I love that these too started to follow their instincts and really learn to trust and lean on each other. They really have progressed since this series started.

As we get further into this series we get to see Cady learning way more about herself and what she may really be capable of  and itn made me love her as a heroine even more. I like that this book was set during another holiday this time being Christmas because Cady gets to finally meet Jupe’s grandmother and aunt. The Giovanni’s are so different from Cady but I loved they all managed to bond over a common goal that they needed to accomplish. It was also great to finally get to meet someone that I have been wanting Cady to cross paths with for a long time. I can now say that I see why Jupe is so close to his dad and everyone but his mom. I can’t get more into all this without feeling like I would be spoiling things though so I am going to leave it at that.

Overall this book was so awesome and this series is getting better and better as it goes on and I am loving the ride that I am on.The action was off the charts and I flew through this book before realizing I was almost done with it. The normal cast of characters are back with us with Cady, Lon,Jupe,Kar Yee and and a few others mixed in but they all made the story what it was. This author knows how to tell a story and to keep her readers hooked and with the way this book ended I was so glad to jump right into the next book. I have to say be prepared for this ending because it will floor you and leave you wanting more . I highly recommend this one to others and especially lovers of this series.
