Divided by Elsie Chapman Review

three-stars

The hunter becomes the hunted. . . .   West Grayer is done killing. She defeated her Alternate, a twin raised by another family, and proved she's worthy of a future. She's ready to move on with her life.   The Board has other plans. They want her to kill one last time, and offer her a deal worth killing for. But when West recognizes her target as a ghost from her past, she realizes she's in over her head. The Board is lying, and West will have to uncover the truth of the past to secure her future.   How far will the Board go to keep their secrets safe? And how far will West go to save those she loves? With nonstop action and surprising twists, Elsie Chapman's intoxicating sequel to Dualed reveals everything. Praise for Dualed:

This series was one that I excited to get back into because I needed to know how things would play out for West and if she would get to finally live a normally life. The author had us jump right back into the action and we got to see West living a somewhat normal life but we soon learn it may not be for long. I love the character of West because with all she has been through she is so strong and handled herself so well. She is willing to do anything to keep herself and her friends safe and it was refreshing to see such an unselfish character. West is soon drawn into a game that you have to wonder if she will come out on top and how she will handle it all. I loved that this time we got to see more of her handling things on her own and making her own decisions regardless of what others thought and it was a refreshing change.

As we get further into the book we learn that West has been hired to perform some difficult tasks and you start to wonder if she will really go through with it and not figure out a different way to handle it all. The Board wants her to handle these tasks and take out some targets and we soon learn this really is a sinister plan underfoot. I loved the twist that comes out of what West is hired to do and how she learns things may not be what they seem. The author did a good job of setting up the plot for this one and I can say I didn’t see it all coming at me until it was too late and by that time I was hooked on the book. The action amped up at this point so it became a really fast paced read that engaged me throughout it. I found myself rooting for West and hoping things would work in her favor.

Overall this was a great read and I loved every minute of it and was happy to see how it all wrapped up. I think the author created such a unique world and this book goes into more of the history and how it all came about  with  a few shockers thrown in that we didn’t see coming. I loved seeing these characters again and watching things change for West in ways she didn’t imagine that resulted in her making some of the hardest decisions she never thought she would have to do. I would say fans of this series will be happy with the way things turn out and will be satisfied with it all and be left with no lingering thoughts that nothing was wrapped up. I would recommend this one to others.
