Landmark coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi has served her share of New York’s rich and famous, but even she is surprised by her explosive introduction to a mysterious Internet billionaire… When a car bomb nearly kills tech whiz Eric Thorner, Clare comes to his aid and receives a priceless thank you. Not only does the billionaire buy her a barista’s dream espresso machine, he hires her to create the world’s most expensive coffee blend. As Eric jets Clare around the globe on a head-spinning search for the world’s best coffee, she gets to know his world—a mesmerizing circle of money with rivalries that could easily have turned deadly. But is this charming young CEO truly marked for termination? Or is he the one making a killing?
Clare Cosi is back and better than ever this time around in the latest installment of this mystery series. Claire is having a normal day in her coffee shop when things take a pretty drastic turn and she saves someone’s life. I think I liked this book even more than the others because it really shows how levelheaded and cool under pressure Clare really is. She thinks so quickly on her feet and manages to save Eric Thorner along the way. We soon learn that Eric is a billionaire and someone may be out to get him and of course that means Clare will be involved with solving the mystery. I love the narrator for this series as she brings such life to Clare and makes me feel like I am really seeing the story play out in front of me. She tells the tale in such a way that I get wrapped up in it and this time around was no exception.
As the story continues Clare starts to get help from Eric in the form of gifts and things for saving him and I have to say that I was instantly put off by Thorner and was interested in seeing how this would all play out. We also again got to see Quinn back in the picture and as much as I love him I have to say there were a few times throughout the book that I didn’t care for him much. He seemed to doubt Clare more than he normally did and a few times he came across as rude to me. I was also glad to see more of Clare’s daughter this time around and to see her living out her dreams and making her mom proud. Clare soon starts to put the pieces of the puzzle together and learns what may really be going on and who may be out to get Throner and I have to say I didn’t see the outcome coming. The author threw in a nice plot twist and left me shocked and amazed by it all.
Overall this was another great listen and I once again thanks to the narrator and her vivid descriptions wanted a specialty coffee drink. The author always has such great recipes in this series and she is so creative with them all. This book was full of action and lots of suspense and kept me entertained from start to finish. I really enjoy this series and can’t wait for the next one to come out to see what Clare and the gang gets up to next. I highly recommend this to my audio book lovers and those that love cozy mysteries.
