Once upon a time, a spell went awry and Make Believe characters were cast into the ordinary world. And the results aren't always happily ever after. . .Everyone thinks fairy godmothers can do no wrong. But if not for a certain spell mis-cast by Lavender Seelie, Cinderella's former fairy godmother, the Tales would not be stuck in the Here and Now. Fortunately for Lavender, she's about to get a second chance at a happy ending. . .The Refuge, a sanctuary for wayward Tales, seems like the perfect place for Lavender to start a new life--especially when she discovers an unexpected ally in Seth, the brooding werewolf who's been typecast as a villain ever since his run in with Little Red Riding Hood. But when humans from nearby towns start turning up dead, their bodies mutilated with archaic Tale symbols, Lavender wonders if Seth's deep sensuality has blinded her to the truth. And that distraction could put innocent lives in danger. Including her own. . .

I have to say this series has started to really grow on me and I hate that I waited so long to get to it . I wanted to read this book most out of the series because I was looking forward to getting the back story on the main characters in this one which is Lavender and Seth. We soon learn that Lavender is the fairy godmother to Cinderella and she is the one that did the spell that brought all the Tales into the Here and Now. Lavender gets into some trouble and needs to get out of town and her friend Red sends her to the Refuge. The Refuge is a place that some Tales live in that don’t want to live with all the others because they don’t really believe in the rules and laws in place. I liked that this book wasn’t really set in the same place as the first book in the series and we got to meet lots of new Tales. Lavender is on her way to the Refuge and gets into a little trouble along the way and ends up in Seth’s path and this is when all the fun begins.

I liked Seth in the first book but I loved him in this one because we learned how he became the Wolf and what happened to him in life. I felt so sorry for him and wished for him to find love and happiness and I think him meeting Lavender was just what he needed. These two were so fun to see together and so entertaining. I plenty of laugh out loud moments and Lavender was a barrel of fun. She really did things first and thought second but I loved that through it all she was really powerful and didn’t really realize it. Seth and Lavender soon learn that there is a serious threat out there and they will have to work together to bring it down. I have to say that I figured out pretty early on the person behind it all but I loved seeing everyone work together through it all.

Overall this was a great read and I have fallen in love with the characters in this series. I love seeing the author’s spin on things and how she makes these characters her own. She has a unique writing style and makes her book so full of fun and mystery at the same time. I loved seeing this whole story unfold and was excited to see what would happen next. I can’t wait to get to the next book in the series and am hoping for another great adventure. I would recommend this one to my lovers of fairy tales with a twist.
