Lethal, sexy, and always ready to protect her friends, Gin Blanco (a.k.a. the Spider) takes on the mysterious M.M. Monroe in book twelve of the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series. There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill—and my murder to plan. With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit. The thing is, I’m not the only target. I can see through the tangled threads enough to know that every bit of bad luck my friends have been having lately is no accident—and that each unfortunate “coincidence” is just one more arrow drawing ever closer to hitting the real bull’s-eye. Though new to Ashland, this M. M. Monroe is no stranger to irony, trying to get me, an assassin, framed for murder. Yet, as my enemy’s master plan is slowly revealed, I have a sinking feeling that it will take more than my powerful Ice and Stone magic to stop my whole life from going up in flames.

Gin is back and better than ever in this book and I have to say I see no end in sight for this series. The author does an amazing job of making these all different and keeping you guessing throughout. We start this one out with Gin determining early on that she will have to fast the new villain in town MM Monroe. I was excited for this book because I have been waiting for this showdown to take place and to see what the new Monroe was made of. I have to say she didn’t disappoint me in the least and she made me love Gin even more for her being able to stand up to her. I think this book finally gave us a truly worthy opponent for Gin to go up against. Gin really has to use everything she knows to be able to come out on top on this one.

As the story continues we get to learn more background on Monroe and I have to say she is so devious and calculating and played no games. I liked that she was so crafty and really plotted things out. Gin this time had to make sure she was one step ahead of the game and looking out for her family and friends along the way. I liked how Gin really had to use her resources and abilities this time around. I have to say that there was a point in this book that I thought Gin might not make it but she managed to make it through in only her fashion. The author has made Gin so complex of a character and I think that is why I love her. She is flawed but the one character trait that I love about her is she is loyal to her friends and family and will do anything to keep them safe. I have to say they will do the same for her and there comes a point in the book that we see it all be tested adn have to see just how strong they all are.

Overall this was hands down one of my favorite books out of this whole series and I can’t wait to see how Gin picks up the pieces after the fallout of this book. The author creates such action that you get hooked on these books and can’t stop reading them. I love seeing Gin and her crew work so well together and how it just seems so effortless for them. I for one can’t wait for the next book in this series and I really need to get around to trying out the authors other series and seeing what else she has in store for me. I highly recommend this series to anyone that hasn’t read it yet.

Fantastic review Shy. I have book one and really need to start this series, it sounds like one I would seriously enjoy. Gin and her gang sound great.
