Fans of Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series will be drawn to Wendy Higgins’s sexy, thrilling Sweet Evil trilogy. Sweet Peril, the second book in this hot YA trilogy, focuses on the battle between light and dark, good and evil, within Anna Whitt, the child of a guardian angel mother and a demon father. Anna promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. And all the while there’s gorgeous bad-boy Kaidan Rowe, the son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.Anna discovers it is her fate to banish demons from the earth, and save the other Nephilim from their dark destiny. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

This series has been one that I was late in the game starting but I am so glad that I waited because I get to binge read this one and not have to wait for the next one. I have fallen in love with Anna and Kaidan and this book helped to make me love them even more. We get back into this series and see Anna working and doing what she thought she would never do but I have to say I can’t blame her. I know she has her reasons and in the end everything will work out for her hopefully. I think I liked the fact that Anna struggles so much with being good and also being who she is and what she will become. It was such an interesting concept to try to see her fight aganist her urges and not give in when it would have been so easy for her to so do. I have to say that the first half of this book dragged for me but it may be because Kaidan wasn’t in it.

As we move along and we get scenes with Anna and Kaidan that is when the book took off for me and I was so happy. The tension between them is so off the charts good and I can see why they fight so hard against what they both want.I loved that as the story went on we really learned what Anna was really here to do and who she could become if she learns to believe in herself and her abilities. I for one was waiting and hoping for Anna and Kai to get their big payoff and you will have to read to see what happens with them. I loved that this book really allowed us to learn more about the other characters in the book with a big addition this time around being Kopone and I have to say that I was drawn to him and when we learn who he is it all makes since. I have to admit he for me gave Kaiden a run for the hot guy factor and I was enjoying seeing him interact with Anna.

Overall I loved this addition to the series and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us and how things will wrap up for them. I am hoping that Anna really comes into her own and steps up in the next book. I am expecting so much from her because I know what she is capable of and just how strong she really is. I think this book resolved a lot for me and made it an enjoyable addition to the series. I love this series on audio because the narrator does an amazing job on the voices and makes them all so different and unique. I highly recommend this as series to listen to because you won’t be disappointed.
