After dying of cancer at seventeen and being brought back to life by an evil witch who turned her into a monster, Samantha Thompson thinks she's finally gotten past all the tragedy in her life. Now she's part of a coven of good witches who are helping her and her boyfriend, Ethan Anderson, learn to use the powers they received from other witches. Aside from the fact that Sam and Ethan are still in hiding from their old lives--the ones they had before Sam was brought back to life--things couldn't be better. Sam and Ethan are inseparable. What could go wrong?
Ethan's magic came from a witch who'd turned as evil as possible, and though his coven thought he'd be fine, the more he uses his magic, the stranger he starts acting. The magic inside him is changing who he is. One minute he's Sam's sweet, perfect Ethan and the next, he's a complete stranger. Even with all her witchy power, Sam is helpless against the magic corrupting Ethan. Can Sam find out what's wrong with him before she loses him to dark magic forever?
I have been waiting to get to this series since I read the last one as I wanted to say what would happen with Sam and Ethan and this book gave me all my answers and then some.We get back into this one by finding out that Ethan’s magic is acting funny and Sam and the Coven set out to try to figure it out. The major fear they have is that Ethan is becoming attracted to dark magic and they aren’t going to be able to fix it. I once again that what I love about this book is the love between Sam and Ethan. They have beat incredible odds to be together and that is what I love about them. They have a true and genuine love and will stop at nothing to help the other one and to keep each other safe. I loved seeing the Coven work together more in this one to try to better themselves as a whole.
As the story continues the Coven learns there may be more witches in their world than they thought and they find them in the most unlikely place. I was instantly clued to the book from there because I had to see who could be trusted and who was out to get them. The introduction of Mirabella also was an addition that I was leary of. I won’t go into the details but the story from there turns into a battle of the witches and you will have to read it to see who comes out on top. I loved that the author ended this series in the way I was hoping it would. This author has been added to my list of favorites because she writes stories that you love. I always get attached to the characters and what they have going on and find myself on emotional roller coasters. Once again this book didn’t disappoint me and it was just what I have become to expect from this author. I highly recommend this one.
