One of the few humans who managed to escape the deadly twilight world of Vamp City, Quinn Lennox vows never to return. But the vampires want her back, for only she has the power to renew the magic of their crumbling world and free the vampires trapped within.
When the dangerous and all-too-seductive Arturo Mazza comes for her, Quinn knows that she can never trust him after the betrayal she suffered at his hands. But with her beloved brother's fate hanging in the balance and her own power beginning to emerge, she chooses to risk it all on yet another perilous journey back to Vamp City. And though she tries to deny it, her heart begins to hold hope that even a ruthless vampire can learn the meaning of true love . . .
Ok having loved the first book in this series even though it was dark and gritty I was hoping this one would be the same. I have to say that for fans that were off put by the darkness of the first book you may like this one better. Vamp City is still not a good place for humans but in this book you get to learn way more about some of the vampires in the series. I was surprised to see that some of them are not as evil as I had originally thought. We get back into this world by seeing Quinn have to go back to Vamp City because of her brother. I have to say I was shocked that with everything that happened in the first book that Quinn would go back but I get that love of doing anything for your brother because that’s what you do for family. Quinn gets back into this world and of course she is once again the human slave but I think this time around I liked her more because she was going in knowing what to expect. She wasn’t such a newbie so I think she made better choices because of it.
As the story continues we of course get more of Quinn and Arturo and if it’s one thing the author knows how to write it’s this weird and carazy relationship. You can tell these two are no good for each other but yet they are drawn togther and you want them to be. I think this book made me like Arturo more because he started to think more for himself but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t still the selfish jerk that he is. Quinn also meets some other people along the way and she starts to make friends which is something I really didn’t see happening. I think the big thing I am waiting for in this one is what is really up with Zach. I feel like there are some major revelations coming in the next book for him and I can’t wait. I think the fact that he started to realize he needed to make changes if he wants to help his girl and his sister was the turning point for him.
Overall I loved this one as much as the first book and I can’t wait to listen to the third one. I loved the narrator just as much as the first time around and she really makes me love these characters even the ones I know I shouldn’t. I cant wait to see what will happen with these characters in the next book and how strong Quinn will really become. I actually think that her and Zach together are going to do amazing things. If you haven’t gotten into this series yet you are missing out.
