Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer Audio Review

four-stars

Michael Merrick is used to pressure. He's the only parent his three brothers have had for years. His power to control Earth could kill someone if he miscalculates. Now an Elemental Guide has it out for his family, and he's all that stands in the way.

Michael's girlfriend, Hannah, gets that. She's got a kid of her own and a job as a firefighter that could end her life without a moment's notice.

But there are people who have had enough of Michael's defiance. Before he knows it, Michael's enemies have turned into the Merricks' enemies, and they're armed for war. They're not interested in surrender. But Michael isn't the white flag type anyway. There will be blood on the ground tonight . . .

This book is the final one in the series and I have to say I am sad to see it all end. I have grown to love this group of brothers I mean who wouldn’t they are kind, caring, hot and with a family bond that nobody can break. They are a force to be reckoned with and it all started with their brother Micheal who this book is about. Micheal Merrick had a ton of responsibility heaped on his shoulders from having to raise his brothers, to running his business and also trying to have a relationship with Hannah his girlfriend. I loved Micheal from the start of this series because he was so strong and could handle so much but even strong people need people to lean on. We get into this one with Micheal having to deal with the fact that there is someone out to get him and his brothers and he has to figure it all out soon before it is too late. I think that the narrator did a great job with bringing out all the stress you could hear in Micheal’s voice and how on edge he really was. He was that way throughout this book and for good reason.

As the story continues we also got to learn more about Micheal’s girlfriend Hannah and who she was. We get to see more of her work life and her parents and that side of her. I liked that although we got to see scenes with Micheal and Hannah there wasn’t a bunch of romance in this one because let’s face it Micheal didn’t have time for that with all he had going on in this book. I think what worked for me in this book was that throughout it you kept waiting on the other shoe to drop. There was so much going on and the hits kept coming. You didn’t know what was going to happen next and who was on the side of the Merrick’s and who was plotting for their downfall. I loved that through it all though the brothers were there for each other.

Overall this was a fantastic end to this series and I can honestly say I was ok with it all. I think some people may have wanted more from the ending but it worked for me. The narrator did a phenomenal job and kept me hooked throughout. He did justice to all the characters and gave them all their own distinct sound. I have to say now I have to try to look for another series that is going to hook me with hot brothers like this one did. If you haven’t read or listened to this series what are you waiting on because you need the Merrick’s in your life trust me you will love them.
