Secret by Brigrid Kemmerer Audio Review

four-stars

Nick Merrick is stretched to the breaking point. Keep his grades sky-high, or he'll never escape his hometown. Keep his brother's business going, or the Merricks will be out on the street. Keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his own twin, or he'll lose his family. Keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who's supposed to be his "girlfriend's" partner.

Of course, there's also the homicidal freak Quinn has taken to hanging around and the Elemental Guide who's counting the hours until he can try once more to kill the Merrick brothers.

There's a storm coming. From all sides. And then some. Nick Merrick, can you keep it together?

I really have grown to love the Merrick Brothers and this book was just as amazing as the previous books. I love how close they are all but I think what I liked about this one is we learn a huge secret about Nick Merrick. Nick appears to be the boy who has it all and then you learn just how much he is holding inside and is afraid to tell others about. I personally have to say the one thing I didn’t like is the fact that Nick thought his brothers would have a problem with his secret. The way they all stick together for each other there is no way he should have thought otherwise.

The second half of the book is where everything really takes off and I got so sucked into it all.As we keep going in this one though we get to see Nick and Adam around each other more and they really were great together. We also got to see more of Quinn in this one and got to learn more about Tyler too. on top of every thing else Nick was dealing with he also had to deal with the normal Elemental Guide craziness and it this time around it seemed like we had crazy on a whole different level than normal. There was a lot that happened in this one though so we got plenty of action too. I wanted to see how it would all play out for Nick and Adam and I was happy with the outcome.

Overall this was a great listen as the narrator kept me entertained and he was able to pull of the different voices pretty well. I found myself engrossed in the listen and a few times I couldn’t stop listening because I had to see what was coming next. I think when that happens a narrator has done their job and made it worthwhile for the listeners. The ending of this book was just what I expected and I think listeners will approve. I personally can’t wait to see what the final book will have in store for us and I will be so sad to see this series come to an end.
