Marissa is due for a little happily ever after. After all, she did kill the evil Fairy Godmother, end a war, and snag a sweet promotion within the Fairy Godfather's magical-problem-solving Agency. But between maintaining a relationship with someone whose amorous advances can cause third-degree burns, dealing with a killer-poodle infestation, and helping her best friend, Princess Ari, learn to wield spells more powerful than curing a hangover, she's not getting as much peace and quiet as she hoped.
When an enemy from her past appears to exact a terrible revenge, Marissa's life goes from hectic to hell on earth. With Grimm inexplicably gone and Ari trapped by a sleeping spell, Marissa decides to fight fire with hellfire—and accidentally begins a countdown to the apocalypse.
With the end of days extremely nigh, Marissa will have to master royal politics, demonic law, and biblical plagues in a hurry—because even the end of the world can't keep the Agency from opening for business . . .
I have to say that as much as I loved the first book in this series I was hoping this one would be just as amazing and it didn’t disappoint me. I love the character of Marissa as she is full of snark and quick wit but she is also fierce and very loyal to those she loves and considers friends. We get back into this one seeing Marissa having to deal with Grimm being missing, trying to have a relationship and then what happens to Ari also. She has a full plate but handles it all the way you would expect her to. I loved that this one we really got to see Marissa handling more on her own since Grimm isn’t around and left her in charge of things. I loved all the new additions to characters we got to meet in this one too and seeing them interact with Marissa was a lot of fun.
As the story continues we see Marissa trying to deal with her enemies that have came back from the past. She makes a deal that we soon learn brings about the apocalypse and now she has to figure out how to stop it. I have to say the way she ends all that was hilarious and not what I expected. I think the one thing that disappointed me in this one was that we didn’t get nearly enough Marissa and Liam time. I was hoping she would get a little bit of a break to really focus more on their relationship. I loved seeing her have to also work through things without having Ari around to help her out. We really got to see Marissa all by herself a lot and I think for the most part she handled it all pretty well.
Overall this was another great listen in this series and I enjoyed it the whole ride. I love this narrator and having listened to her in a few different series she is becoming one of my favorites and one that I have to see what else she has narrated to listen to. She brings all the different characters to life and made them all unique and distinguishable. I can’t wait to listen to the next in this series to see how it will all play out and how the author will wrap it all up. I am hoping Marissa will finally get that happily ever after that with all that she has been through she rightfully deserves.
