With all the ghosts that haunt her at this time of year, Carly doesn't exactly rush to celebrate Halloween. Even a costume ball organized by her boyfriend Dylan's mother, Patricia Davis Jackson, holds little allure. But to please Dylan, who wants peace between the two women, Carly reluctantly agrees to go.
The gossip around town is that architect Haywood Dodd plans to make a big announcement at the party. But before he can address the crowd, he's found dead with Patricia standing over him, holding the murder weapon. Anxious to clear Patricia's name and perhaps broker a truce with her, Carly would love to use her snooping skills to find the real killer. Only she has bigger problems to deal with—ghosts are flocking to her for help, including a very persistent Haywood Dodd . . .
I have come to really love this series and the main character Carly has grown to be one of my favorite mystery heroines. I love how real she is and how even though she knows what she is she is still surprised all the time about what goes on around her.I loved that we got back into this series with the book being centered around Halloween. I mean who doesn’t love a cute Halloween mystery. I think readers of this series will really enjoy this one as it goes deeper than the other books in the series and there are major revelations that came about in this one. Carly once again stumbles across a dead body and this time the suspect is none other than her boyfriends mean mom Patricia. I have to say this is one of the main reasons that I like Carly. She was able to be the bigger person and try to figure out who was really behind the murder even though she knows how Patricia feels about her.
As the story continues Carly continues to investigate the murder and along the way some major revelations take place and I am hoping for another book to clear it all up. I loved seeing Carly and Delia work together and how their relationship has evolved. I really enjoyed this one as well as the others in this series and this audio series has become one that I love and can count on to be just what I expect and more. If you haven;t gotten into this series you don’t know what you are missing and need to get to it right away. I think I may go see what other books the author has that haven’t gotten around to.
